I am a CBT, EMDR therapist and Counsellor working in Plymouth treating people with life difficulties such as stress, anxiety, depression, anger issues, relationship difficulties, panic, divorce, phobias, OCD and PTSD. I have a special interest in physical health problems affecting emotional health such as pain, long-term health conditions, fatigue and cancer. I currently run stress, mindfulness and compassion focused therapy courses for the NHS. I have also trained in acceptance and commitment therapy and compassion focused therapy.
My personal philosophy is using a holistic approach and tailoring treatment needs to suit individual clients. I used to work as an oncology nurse and at the back pain clinic. I find that my nurse training gives me an advantage in this sphere due to high standards in client care and confidentiality at all times. I also run groups in stress control, mindfulness and compassion focused therapy.
I have found mindfulness extremely beneficial to my own well-being and have seen the positive effect it has on people with emotional and physical health difficulties.
Mindfulness can be helpful for stress reduction; chronic pain; coronary disease; anxiety; psoriasis; depression; sleep problems & autoimmune diseases.
Research demonstrates that mindfulness can: Improve our brain’s ability to process information, reduce brain-related problems in old age, strengthen our immune system, lift our mood and reduce stress.
